I've built a number of wood strip boats -- canoes and adirondack guide boats. building stitch-and-glue is definitely easier and more "forgiving" for a novice. my advice: get stitch and glue experience, then adventure into strip-built.. Stitch and glue is definitely quicker. i would estimate about half the time or less of cedar strip. my 2 cedar strip boats probably averaged about 400 hours each..
